Aquene had a long night with the Equalists and it was nearly dawn as she staggered home. There had been commotion around the city about something that had been found in a park — the one near her home, but it just looked to be a meteorite. Nothing was damaged too bady, but it did have the police busy for a while. She had checked on it herself but her clinic and home weren’t affected.
Tired legs trudged up the stairs to the apartment proper. The scent of jasmine tea greeted her as it did whenever she stepped into her home. “Mmm… So nice to be home,” she murmured, hanging up her coat and kicking off her boots. Bare feet led her to the stove where she started water for tea, and then she lit a few candles. Her weight settled on the couch as she groped for a book to read.
